On September 28, 2024, the 12th International Meeting and Academic Conference commemorating the 35th anniversary of Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital and the 20th anniversary of the School of Optometry officially commenced. From September 27 to 29, over 23 renowned ophthalmology experts from eight countries, including the United States, Singapore, Australia, and the United Kingdom, as well as Hong Kong SAR, China, gathered in Tianjin, along with over 200 domestic experts and scholars and more than 1,000 conference representatives. The event featured 15 academic exchange sessions covering various subspecialties within ophthalmology, aimed at providing a platform for in-depth, multidisciplinary exchanges and knowledge sharing. Through this conference, we hope to explore cutting-edge topics in ophthalmology, share innovative findings, strengthen academic collaboration, and further broaden the international perspective on ophthalmic research and clinical care.

Since our first international conference in 1991, this year's event holds special significance, coinciding with National Science Popularization Day and the 35th anniversary of Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital, as well as the 20th anniversary of the School of Optometry. Over the past 35 years, Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital has grown from the World Intraocular Lens Training Center by Jingyi Lake to a top-tier tertiary hospital by the Bohai Sea. Our development has been supported by leaders, experts, and colleagues at all levels. In the future, we will continue to uphold our hospital’s motto of "Benevolence, Inheritence, and Innovation" and our mission of "providing high-quality ophthalmic services with a patient-centered approach."
